Q. What are your check-in times?
A. Our check-ins times are strictly between 16:00 hrs. to 18:00 hrs. only and these times are clearly displayed on all booking web sites prior to making a reservation. We are closed to all check-ins outside of these times. The Richmond is a private home, our home. So please respect it as such and do not ask for a check-in time other than those stated as these times are non negotiable. If you need a room prior to 4pm then you must check-in the day before.
Q. What is the cost of the ferry? Can we get a discount?
A. We can very probably get a discount on car ferry tickets via Red Funnel (Southampton to East Cowes) but we’d need some details such as dates, time of sailing. Send this information and we can investigate. It's not a case of a fixed percentage off the normal public rate and prices do vary considerably throughout the year.
Q. When do I pay for my ferry ticket if purchased via the Richmond B&B.
A. The ferry ticket is paid in full at the time the guest asks us to make the purchase. The guests credit / debit card detail is not passed to the ferry company but is charged at The Richmond B&B.
Q. Can I drop my bag before check-in?
A. Sorry, but we do not provide this service. We have no storage facility and so all baggage must be taken with you at time of check-out, which is by 10:00 am latest. Due to health/safety & legal issues no exceptions will be made to this.
Q. What size bed do you have in your rooms?
A. All our rooms have a standard UK size double bed for two adults only.
Q. Is there a hair dryer in the room?
A. Yes, all our rooms have a hairdryer and towels.
Q. Do you supply towels?
A. Yes we do, bath and hand towels.
Q. My child is under 18 years of age but very well behaved. Can they stay with you?
A. No, we are adults only, you must be 18 years or older.
Q. Do you cater for special diets?
A. Sorry no, we only provide what is stated in our breakfast section. Apart from vegetarian we no longer cater for special/personalised diets such as gluten free, lactose free, vegan, halal or kosha. If guests would like bring their own items such as bread or milk then we will attempt keep and serve this for you at breakfast. Please contact us prior to arrival to confirm this requirement.
Q. Do you accept cash, cheque or bank transfer as a payment, either deposit or balance.
A. No, we use credit or debit card only. Visa or Mastercard and American Express.
Q. Do you have free Wi-Fi?
A. Yes, free and unlimited to all guests.
Q. Are pets allowed?
A. No.
Q. Do you have any car parking space?
A. Yes. Car parking is free, but we can accommodate nothing lager than a Landrover Discovery sized SUV. There's plenty of nearby on street parking available should the need arise. Car parking is provided on a complementary basis and does not form part of the accommodation agreement. We do not operate a reservation system. We ask that guests do not use our car park prior to check-in as you could be blocking our rear service entrance to which we need access.
Q. Can we drink the tap water from the rooms?
A. Yes
Q. How long does it take to walk to .........
A. The train station is 10 minutes, bus stops 5 minutes, the beach 10 minutes, shops 1 minute, the old village 10 minutes.
Q. Are your rooms En-suite?
A. Yes, all of them.
Q. Is there any provision for disabled guests?
A. No, there is no provision for disabled guests. All accommodation is on the first floor so all guests must be able to negotiate a flight of domestic stairs.
Q. Can I bring my own pillow?
A. Yes by all means.
Q. Do you supply items such as balloons, flowers, chocolates and alcohol etc. in the room for special occasions?
A. No, but you can bring your own items as long as it leaves no extra cleaning behind when you leave. Be considerate and remember our guests are expecting to find the room as clean and tidy as you did. Extra cleaning will incur extra charges.
Q. Is the mobile phone signal good by The Richmond?
A. Can’t vouch for all providers but EE, Three & O2 are all quite good.
